Life.

It’s time for a reality check. When was the last time you told yourself this?

As you may know, I am searching for the perfect place to go to college, in order to get a fashion merchandising degree. Once I graduate, my dream is to become a buyer, or have a similar job in order to get some experience under my belt. Once I have had enough experience, my end goal is to open my own boutique that sells vintage & boho clothing, as well as sells a large amount of fair trade items that will benefit individuals all over the globe.

If this dream (let’s admit it ~ it’s a pretty big dream) is something that I want to pursue, I have to believe that I can do it. I have to wake up each day & tell myself in the mirror that this is what I want for my life one day, which means I should strive to do my best in school, networking & creativity in order to get on the path to make this happen.

I have struggled at times with feelings of doubt, as I’m sure some of you have as well. In certain circumstances, I’ve been intimidated and belittled by people in the fashion field. There’s a huge amount of competition in the fashion industry, and a lot of times, it’s a “fighting for blood” type of feeling. Even though I have felt this way sometimes, it is vital that we don’t get hung up on these negative feelings. By surrounding ourselves with a great network of friends who can cheer us on and encourage us in our creativity is an incredible way to help you get through the “I’m-not-good-enough” mindset. Because you are good enough. When someone compliments you or something you’ve made, or something you’ve blogged about, accept the compliment! However, also know that these people are the perfect people to tell you if you’ve made something less than satisfactory, too!

Basically, good, honest friends are perfect to surround yourselves with and we should all have them. My best friend is an artist, and we love being able to be there for each other whenever we just need some positive encouragement on a certain day, of if we need some advice on how to make a project better. How have your friends encouraged you lately?

  Much love,
Olivia
