The Great Balloon Race!
Hey lovelies!
So, today was the Great St. Louis Balloon Race, an annual hot air balloon race held in Forest Park here in St. Louis. The concept is simple: the Energizer Bunny hot air balloon takes off first, and the other balloons can take off fifteen minutes later. After a long ride, the people in the Energizer Bunny drop a bean bag from the basket in a completely random location. Then, the other hot air balloons have to find the bean bag & drop their own bean bags! Whoever drops their own bean bag closest to the Energizer Bunny’s, wins!
For years, my family has gone to the balloon race and been in the center of the action, however, the more years that went on, Forest Park got crazy packed out, and it just wasn’t worth it, because afterwards, we would be sitting in hours of traffic. So, today, we decided to try something new. We decided to follow the balloons once they took off, until we found a spot we could watch all the balloons float across the sky. Well, after a little bit of driving through the most random parts of St. Louis, we actually ended up in a Denny’s parking lot, with an absolutely perfect view! It was almost better than being in Forest Park because we didn’t have traffic to deal with or people that would trample us!
The Denny’s was across the street from an old, abandoned school, which of course called for some pictures. It literally had the coolest architecture, although my brother thought it looked like a haunted house instead of a school…(:
Also, it called for pictures of my outfit of the day. I bought these socks today, and I think it’s the first time I’ve ever bought something from a sporting goods store (that’s embarrassing…), and here I am wearing Adidas soccer socks for fashion purposes only, haha!
