It’s no secret that one of my biggest passions is shopping fair trade ~ a way you can get ultra cute goodies while those living in poverty around the globe benefit from your purchase! With each passing holiday, I’m always looking for a way I can find my loved ones some great gifts while helping others in the process. Today, I want to share with you some of my favorite options for that lovely lady in your life by the name of Mom. Check out these organizations not only for Mother’s Day ideas, but also to give yourself a gift, to buy teacher gifts, and give a present to every lady in your life who deserves a special something…because, let’s admit it, it feels good to look cute while simultaneously helping others!
xoxo & much love,
Olivia
Even endorsed by Elsie of the ever popular blog, A Beautiful Mess, 31 Bits is a fabulous company with an even better mission. “To empower people through the fashion industry…“, 31 Bits “works with beneficiaries in Uganda to create fashionable, quality products. They earn an income enabling them to provide for their families.” My heart just loves to hear about companies that use their status in the fashion industry to spread the message of hope and the love of Jesus Christ. 31 Bits is a great idea for that mamma who has everything…except a piece of jewelery made by lovely ladies in Uganda!
Another company I just love & think that their products are simply gorgeous is Costa Rican company Pura Vida Bracelets. This line is definitely more on the casual end of jewelry, so, for more of an everyday look. The boho look this company seeks to bring is just overwhelmingly cute to me, but I’m really impressed with the company’s mission. The Charity Collection was created to give back to charities all over the world through the sale of individual charity bracelets. In 2013 we were able to donate over $140,000 to 190+ charity organizations and we’ve only grown since then. It’s also awesome to see over 50 Costa Rican artisans being supported with fair wages from their products! Check it out here!
As if a company couldn’t get any cooler. This Guatemala based company holds a special place in my heart since I have such a close connection with Guatemala as it is. Based out of the Guatemalan highlands, Nena & Co. has a beautiful mission of using part of their proceeds to assemble birthing kits for pregnant women in the highlands, aided by these kits to try to slow the shockingly high infant mortality rates. If you have time, be sure to check out founder Alejandra’s blog called Peace Pilgrim. Enjoy!
