Happy Saturday, friends!

Today, I am spending the day working on all kinds of homework and personal projects, but before I jump into those things, I wanted to share a recipe with you that I made for breakfast! It’s the most perfect choice for weekend breakfasts, late night snacks, and pretty much any other time that fits your schedule! This past week, I was pretty sick with some really bad throat pain. Because of that, I was on a pretty much liquid diet. However, I used some of my sick downtime to perfect my go-to recipe, the acai bowl.

If you’re anything like me, it can be so easy to drink away your calories for the day. Without even thinking, I will drink Frappuchinos and slushies and sweet tea, and then realize what I’ve done. This summer, I wanted to try making some things that were a little healthier. So, here are some of my picks for some healthy summer sips and snacks!

  • End the night with a cup of tea.
    • In Spain, I found a love for tea, which I’ve continued to drink all summer long. Hot or iced, tea is a great thing to sip on. One key part of my nightly routine is making myself a cup of hot tea before bed. I’ll sit and read a book or pin things to my Pinterest as I relax over the tea. This is one of my favorite aspects of my nightly routine that I look forward to every day.

I also have a newfound love for infused water. Today I wanted to share my favorite recipe for infused water so you can add some sweet flavors to your water! There’s countless other combinations but the one below just happens to be my fave. Usually, I let my water sit 1 to 4 hours for the flavors to really shine!

  • Strawberries + Blueberries
    • Oh my, I could go on and on about this one, because I think it’s my favorite thing to drink. I already am a huge fan of water ~ I’m always carrying around a water bottle, but it’s even better when it’s accessorized with berries! I mean really though! You’ll not only be drinking more water, but also have a fun snack at the bottom of the glass. 😉

Those are basically two of my favorite things to drink that help me stay healthy…as opposed to always having a drink from Starbucks that’s full of calories and expensive! I’ve also been snacking on some healthier things lately as well. With a fresh fruit stand right by my house, Josh and I have been going and buying fresh fruit more than ever ~ it makes me so happy!

  • Hummus + a Side.
    • I’ve been absolutely addicted to hummus lately. After getting home from Spain, my mom bought me a new flavor that I’m now obsessed with! Sabra’s Olive Tapenade Hummus for the win! And as far as things to serve with your hummus goes…the options are endless. My personal favorites are pretzels, Tostitos scoops, carrots, and celery sticks.

The final thing that I’ve been snacking on all summer long are yogurt bowls. Seriously this is one of the easiest things that you can whip up and it is delicious! The best part is that you can use whatever fruit you have on hand at the time, so it really works in so many ways!

  • Yogurt Bowls
    • I love yogurt bowls. So much. All I do is take a prepackaged yogurt cup and dump it into a bowl. Then, I pour a bit of granola and fruit on top of it and mix it all up. As you know, my favorite fruits are strawberries and blueberries so usually my bowls have a bit of both of those fruits on top, but I’ve also had pineapple, melon, and kiwi on top and it has been delicious as well.

As you can tell, it’s not like I go all out or anything to make my drinks or snacks. They are pretty simple, but they are fast and easy to make, and also motivate me to stay healthy. What are some of your favorite drinks and snacks that help you stay healthy?

Much love,

One of the areas that I wish that I was better at was DIYs. While I constantly am pinning away ideas to my Pinterest boards, it actually takes a lot of effort to get up and do it. Something that I have been pinning a lot of lately though, is yarn wall art. So, I finally decided to get my life together and make one because a) I love the look and b) it’s super inexpensive, and being on a college budget, I can’t exactly be throwing money in the air for crafts (as much as I’d like to). So, today I’m going to teach you how to make yarn wall art! With this week being our school’s spring break, grab these supplies and make something cute to bring back to school with you with all the spare time you’ll have over spring break!
To start, here’s what you’ll need…
~ different colors of knitting yarn (I usually use three colors, but it’s up to you)
~ a dowel or a tree branch
And now is the point where you’re asking me, “Wait?! Is that it? Isn’t there more?” Nope. Those are literally the only supplies that you need, so this ends up being such an inexpensive project, it’s almost free! Let’s get started!

Now that you have your supplies gathered, begin by cutting a strip of yarn to your desired length (mine was about 20 inches long, for reference). Next, tie it around the dowel like so…

Continue doing this and keep adding on more and more.

Also, feel free to add in any and every color you want in your palate! I chose to work with my school colors to make a cute dorm decoration, but you can choose anything!

Once you’re finished adding yarn on, tie a longer yarn on either end of the dowel in order to hang it up on the wall as a decoration.

Here’s the finished product along with a couple canvases to show our school spirit.

Let me know if you have any questions and I can’t wait to see your interpretations of the look!
xoxo + much love,

Hey lovelies,
So recently, I have been developing a lot of sweet DIYs for Valentine’s Day (read ~ trashing my room everyday because it’s doubling as my work space) and I just can’t wait to show you everything that I’ve had to keep on the DL over Instagram & other social media!

First of all, two years ago on the blog (crazy it’s been that long,I know!!), I made one of my favorite DIYs to date, the Valentine’s Day Garland made simply with playing cards,  ribbon,  and a hole punch.  It’s SO cute & even though I made it two years ago, it is still hanging up in my room. My room that undergoes extreme makeover/DIY changes almost every day. Yes, folks, I am almost changing up my room every day, haha!

Second of all, I am literally addicted to printables. I typically try to decorate my room according to the current season, so printables save a lot of time and money by helping me accomplish this task! As part of the Valentine’s Day DIY projects, a SUPER easy one is just to slide a printable into a frame! Because of this, I have corralled some of my favorite printables that I have in my own home ~ decorate away & thank me later! I am just feeling the love in my room, now that it’s full of these babies!

Hello lovelies,

Do you know who Frida Kahlo is? She is one of my very favorite people. As a Mexican painter (of mainly self portraits), she depicted the struggles she faced in her life, as well as her passion for life in general with the most vibrant colors she possibly could. After I saw the movie Frida, I really came to understand who she was not only as a painter, but as a person. I am not one to get hung up in pop culture, or famous celebrities, however, I will say that I am obsessed with Frida. So, when I saw THESE sugar cookies on A Beautiful Mess, I knew I had to make my own. This is how they turned out….

Much love,

Here is how I did it…

~ What You Need ~
1) Red Hot candies
2) Black licorice pieces
3) White frosting
4) Wilton candy flowers
5) Sugar cookies (I made my cookies with premade dough, since the decoration process took a while, but you can use your favorite sugar cookie recipe if you’d like to!)
Seriously though, I am so happy I made these! I was able to bring them to my Spanish class during Day of the Dead, and it was a great treat! If you have any questions on how I made these, comment below! I’ll leave you with some Frida inspiration so hopefully you’ll see why I love her so much!
