Flowy, Flirty, + Free – The Reemerging Trend I Love.

/ October 14, 2016 /

Style.

If you couldn’t guess by the title, today I’m going to be talking about a trend that has really popped back up lately that I’m not at all sad to see. Maxi + Midi dresses. It seems that this time, however, the trend is specifically focused on more bohemian style maxi and midi dresses ~ so far I haven’t spotted any tight, hip-hugging maxis, and I am SO okay with this. Boho has always been one of my favorite styles out there. If I could look as though I stepped off of the Free People website everyday, that would be great! Unfortunately, I don’t have the budget to do so. With that being said, I love channeling Free People-esque vibes when planning my outfits. That’s what happened this past weekend.

My lovely roomie Robin and I went to Kansas City last weekend for a day trip. We adventured all around the city, shopped at Country Club Plaza, and drank allllll the coffee! Needless to say, we had an incredibly enjoyable time.

It was great to have the opportunity to just get away for a day, and to have such a change of scenery. Living in Columbia, MO, there is always something to be doing, but it definitely is a little bit slower of a pace than St. Louis or KC. It’s great that both cities are so close to be able to get away to once in a while.

Robin and I dressed in some new, cute dresses, put on our fancy hats, and hit the town. I wore my favorite hat, and my newest addition to my dress collection, the Poppy Print Dress from Forever XXI which I found for only $16! I haven’t purchased from Forever XXI in well, forever, but when I got one of their promotional emails last week sharing some sales, I thought I would take a peek at their website. I’ve always been pretty hit or miss with them, because oftentimes their clothing is terrible quality, and I prefer to purchase clothing for their quality rather than for their price. However, I read a few reviews that stated that this dress had held up amazingly well and kept its shape quite nicely.

The print of this dress is perfect for fall, the coverage is so modest, and the keyhole at the front gives it just the fun accent that it needed! If you’re on the lookout for a new fall dress, I would definitely recommend this one! I anticipate throwing on my black leather jacket and some black heels when it gets cooler and I’m looking for a night out look!

Is there a specific trend that you’re just extremely happy that it’s coming back in style? A trend you hate? I want to hear your thoughts about the midi + maxi dress trend below! Are you glad it’s back or do you think it’s overstayed its welcome?

Have a great weekend!
